Practice Your Photography On A Snow Day

child portraitThere's no better excuse to practice your photography than a snow day. School's cancelled or it's out for the holidays and you're going to spend the rest of the day playing with the kids, making hot chocolate and reading books. Be sure to make one of your activities picture taking and don't even bother going outside. The reason? The window light coming in from outside is the best it's ever going to get. Really, it's just perfect for portraits. Here are the steps to make great pictures on a snow day. First, find a window that is easy to stand in front of. Turn off any lights near the window so you don't "mix" lighting sources. Ask your child or subject to stand in front of the window. Shoot away. Here are some examples from this morning. Remember to make it fun and have a very happy snow day! — Sean
