Manitou Springs Elementary : First-grade Tea Party

My daughter's first-grade class at Manitou Springs Elementary School held their annual Tea Party last Friday. Children practice their manners and get to enjoy tea and treats with special guests. Before the party started I took some time to do a portrait series of all of the children and asked them to pose. I made three exposures of each grouping. I love the series and I can't helpbut think of matching up these pictures with another similar series of pictures from their senior year in high school. A big thank you to Manitou Springs Elementary for allowing me to attend the Tea Party. Colorado Springs Senior Pictures : Laurel

I photographed Laurel's senior pictures on the campus of the Colorado Springs School last week. Laurel is graduating from Manitou Springs High School in a few weeks and while it's a bit late for senior photographs for the yearbook, Laurel still wanted to have some made to give out to friendsand family. Nine years ago, I photographed Laurel and her parents at the Garden of the Gods. I've included pictures of her from that session in July of 2003 in this post. Color or Black and White : What’s the Difference?

Do remember the time when photographers carried two cameras, one holding black and white film the other color film? Now, virtually everyone uses a single camera to create both color and black and white images. Here's a portrait of series of my youngest son Jacob, 2, showing both black and white and color versions of each picture. Jacob and I decided to go for a walk the other day and hepicked out a great hat and coat combination that, honestly, doesn't quit in the cuteness department. I grabbed a camera and spent several minutes in the backyard with him before our walk. This adorable series demonstrates nicely the differences and it all comes down to personalpreference. I have a hard time deciding which series I like more. The black and white is classic and timeless, and I love how his hat shows well. Still, there's something about the color of the hat and his yellow rain coat that makes me smile. — Sean

Broadmoor Wedding : Virginia and Richard

Virginia and Richard were married at The Broadmoor Saturday, April 28, 2012 in a late afternoon ceremony on the South Terrace. A cocktail hour and dinner reception in the world-renowned Penrose Room followed the ceremony. Virginia and Richard's wedding was very small, just 12guests. The intimate nature of their wedding is something that I really love. Ambience Florals provided the flowers and Judge Jim Patterson of I Do, I Do Forever officiated the ceremony. April is a magical time of year at the Broadmoor. The flowers are out, the fly fishingis exceptional and the golf courses are green. And it's never crowded! Virginia wore a stunning wedding dress by designer Romona Keveza. Thank you both for inviting me to photograph your wedding day! — Sean

Happy Birthday To Abby, Now Seven!
