Wedding Cakes By The Broadmoor

the-broadmoor-wedding-cakeOne of the highlights of any wedding reception at The Broadmoor is the wedding cake and the groom's cake. Wedding cakes at The Broadmoor are stunning. Everything about the cakes are custom and the design choices are nearly limitless. A wedding cake The Broadmoor is the crown jewel of any wedding reception. The cake sets the tone of the reception and reflects the style of the wedding couple. Here are some of my favorite wedding cakes from weddings at The Broadmoor. So often a great wedding cake or groom's cake also tells a story. I love Barrell and Jacob's five-tiered wedding cake. It's literally covered with notes about about who they are and what they love to do together. But the story doesn't always have to be in writing:) Bonnie and Kelly's groom's cake paints several scenes that have to do with Kelly's favorite pastimes. He's a TCU alum who loves hunting and fishing. Besides looks, wedding cakes at The Broadmoor are made to be yummy! The most popular flavors? Vanilla Bean Gateaux, Bailey's Chocolate Dream, Chocolate Mousse, Strawberries and Cream, Chocolate Rasberry Cake, Resse's Cake, Turtle Mousse Cake, Lemon, Carrot Cake and Almond Ganache. Your catering manager will assist you with selecting the perfect wedding cake. This includes a decadent tasting at The Broadmoor that will make you not want to eat for days! The Broadmoor pastry chefs are so good they can even make a cake without any artificial ingredients and specific to most dietary restrictions. Here are some helpful tips for displaying your wedding cake. Make sure to "pin spot" light on your cake. A pin spot is a focused beam of light that shines directly onto an object as a highlight effect. It's a wonderful way to draw attention to your cake and make it stand out from the rest of the room. Make sure to have a backdrop in mind as well. A wedding cake up against a wall is not nearly as interesting as a wedding cake in the center of the room or on the dance floor. A great wedding cake deserves all of the attention it can get! Don't forget to ask for fondant icing. It's the fondant icing that allows the pastry chef more creativity. What if you don't want a wedding cake at your reception? No worries. Cupcakes are very popular and can be displayed the same way as a wedding cake can. There are also a whole passel of dessert options. The most popular desserts are Bananas Foster, Crepes, Ultimate Sundae and Warm Chocolate Falls - just like it sounds:)  And for those who've made it this far, you deserve to know about the Broadmor's apple pie wedding favors. The apple pies are made using the Broadmoor secret recipe:) — Sean

Chelsea & Ryan’s 4-hour Destination Wedding

In October, Chelsea and Ryan traveled from Ohio to be married at the Garden of the Gods. Their destination wedding lasted 4 short, but very sweet hours one morning. Chelsea and Ryan planned their destination wedding without a wedding planner. And they didn’t have a florist or a DJ. What they did have was a great love for Colorado Springs where Chelsea grew up and where she attended Colorado College’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. When Chelsea called and described her wedding to me and asked if I would consider photographing it, I immediately said yes. And without ever meeting before the wedding, we went about the work of planning a photography schedule that would capture her wedding in a 4-hour time span. I met Chelsea and Ryan at the new Holiday Inn Express in downtown Colorado Springs and photographed them getting ready. After about 30 minutes, Chelsea and Ryan traveled separately to the Garden of the Gods where they shared a private moment before the ceremony. Aftewards Chelsea and Ryan met their family and friends at the Siamese Twins trailhead and hiked to the dramatic rock formation in the park. Chelsea decided to be married in front of the Siamese Twins because of her fond memories playing there as a child with her family. I photographed the ceremony conducted by Chelsea’s grandfather. Their family and wedding party pictures followed. We finished the day with picturs in the mountains above Colorado Springs. Later, Chelsea and Ryan celebrated with a barbecue at her grandfather’s home. Long story short? Chelsea and Ryan pulled off a destination wedding in Colorado Springs for the price of a weekend vacation to Colorado. I've photographed a handful of weddings like this over the years and they are always a lot of fun. Chelsea and Ryan's wedding inspired us to create a wedding package specifically for couples who are adventurous enough to plan a 4-hour destination wedding in Colorado Springs. Does this sound like your kind of wedding? The Tale of Two Pictures

Haley and Dan were married at The Broadmoor's Pauline Chapel. Their reception was held in the main ballroom at The Broadmoor. Dinner is always a time when children at a wedding get a little free reign and I photographed Haley and Dan's flower girls playing on the dance floor together. They were having a great time and then this happened. These pictures, I'm certain, will be cherished for many years to come. — Cathy
